Montego Bay First Murder of 2019

Jamaica Crime News: One man was killed and another man taken into custody, following a stabbing incident which took place in Montego Bay, St James, on Saturday morning, January 5.

The deceased has been identified as Demar Stennett,  21-year-old student who resided at Cornwall Courts, also in Montego Bay.

While the man who has been taken into custody, in connection with the murder,  is said to be in the same age group and hails from Porto Bello.

Reports are that about 7:00 a.m., a team of Soldiers stationed in the Zone of Special Operation in the Mount Salem policing areas, were carrying out patrols duties along a section of Merriam Way, located in the Westgate Gate area, when they saw the accused standing beside a parked motor car with multiple wounds all over his body.

He was approached and upon observation, a bloodied knife was found inside the car.

Further investigations led to the discovery of Stennett’s body, which was lying a few chains away, with multiple stab wounds.

The police were summoned and upon arrival, the scene was processed. The wounded accused transported to the hospital where he was treated and admitted under police guard.

Stennett’s body was also removed from the scene, he was pronounced dead on the spot.
