A probe is underway into the gruesome murder of a woman and her daughter at their home in Rosemount, St James earlier this morning.
The victims—who have been identified as 43-year-old Dionne Smith, of Poinciana Close, Rosemount, St James and Jachanel Gordon, 16-year-old—were discovered with their throats slashed.
Reports reaching McKoy News are that about 3:00 a.m., Smith had a dispute with her common-law husband during which a knife was used to slash her throat, as well as her daughter’s throat. The police were called and the victims removed to the morgue.
It is alleged that the enraged man then left the house. A body that is believed to be that of the common-law husband was discovered in the Rio Cobre River in St. Ann.
The circumstances surrounding why the two were murdered are sketch; however, more information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
In the meantime, the police are still searching for the 11-year-old son of Smith and the common-law husband who was believed to be home at the time of the incident.
