The traditional Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Montego Bay, St. James, will not be the same as previous years.
The annual event, which is primarily held two weeks before Christmas Day (December 25) in the historic Sam Sharpe Square, has been given a new stage known as the Harmony Beach Park, formerly Dump Up Beach.
The St. James Municipal Corporation, who are behind the ceremony, promises the event to be “bigger and better” than ever.
The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is scheduled for Monday, December 13, starting at 5:00 p.m.
The event will be held in keeping with COVID-19 safety protocols where a small group will be invited for the formalities of the ceremony.
Veteran singer Ken Boothe is to headline the main entertainment lineup and plans to mesmerize Montegonians with timeless hits such as The Train Is Coming, Artibella, Don’t You Know, Say You and many more songs.
The ceremony will also incorporate a virtual component for persons within the social media space.
