Jamaica Crime News, St James: Men before Court for Weed – Two men who the police arrested after marijuana was found inside of a motor vehicle they were traveling in, made a brief appearance before the St. James Parish Court Wednesday morning.
Ricardo Hutchinson pleaded not guilty to possession of ganja and dealing in ganja while 26-year-old Cean McIntosh of Burnt Savannah, St. Elizabeth declared innocence on both charges.
The prosecution’s documents disclosed that on April 4 this year at approximately 1:20 p.m., the police were on an operation along the Orange main road when they made a stop signal to a motor car that was being driven by Hutchinson and McIntosh in the front passenger seat.
The car was searched and a black plastic bag with 2 ½ pounds of the weed was found under the rear car seat.
Amid Wednesday’s sitting, McIntosh disclosed to the court that he was before the Cambridge Court in 2018 for a similar offence. At that point, presiding judge Sandria Wong-Small requested a social enquiry report and deferred sentencing for McIntosh until June 17. The matter against Hutchinson will be mentioned that same day.
The two men’s bails were extended.
