Mechanic Charged for Illegal Firearm in St Thomas 

Jamaica Crime News, St Thomas: A St Thomas man was placed in police custody and later charged for Breaches of the Firearms Act,  after he was caught in possession of an illegal firearm on Wednesday, October 17.

The accused Ricardo Francis, 42-year-old mechanic of Jacksvale, Gypsum Road in St Thomas.

Reports by the Elleston Road police are that about 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, a team of officers were carrying out an operation in the Ten Miles area of Bulls Bay when Francis was seen at a premises.

During a search of the premises, a Pietro Beretta .380 pistol, with a magazine containing eight  .380 rounds of ammunition was seized.

Francis who occupied the premises was taken into custody and charged with Illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

He is booked to appear in the Corporate Area Gun Court on Thursday, October 25.
