MAVADO’S RELATIVES TO BE QUESTIONED BY THE CONSTANT SPRING POLICE THIS AFTERNOON – Our news team has learned that Detectives attached to the Constant Spring CIB Department will be conducting a question and answer session with relatives of dancehall entertainer Mavado in the presence of their lawyers this afternoon, Thursday, June 7th.
Also, Mavado himself who was given until midday today Wednesday, June 6th, to report to the station have still not turned himself over to the police allegedly because of contractual work overseas.
One source told our news team that, Mavado is expected to return to the island by next weekend where he still will be expected to come in and be questioned in connection with the recent flare-up of violence in Cassava Piece.
The entertainer’s five family members which include his teenage son and one of his brothers were taken into custody for questioning following an operation which was carried out in the Norbrooks and Cassava Piece areas of St Andrew on Tuesday evening June 5th.
All five family members are expected to be questioned in the presence of the family lawyer Tamika Harris and Attorney at Law, Peter Champagne.
The police took all five persons into custody following the murder of, Lorenza Thomas otherwise called (Israel), 23 years old, unemployed of Cassava Piece.
Reports by the police are that about 2:30 am, Thomas was at his home when armed men kick open the door to his house and chop and shoot him to death. Thomas body was also set on fire by his attackers.
The flare-up in Cassava Piece started on Saturday morning of June 2nd, following a dispute between Mavado and another man from the area. The dancehall artist whose real name is David Brooks reportedly slap the man in his face, but minutes later he nearly lost his life when his motor car was shot up by the same man with whom he had the conflict and two other men.
Following the incident, Mavado is said to have left the country and flew to the United States but the violence did not stop there. Shortly after a man who is identified as Ian Robinson, Gaza Man, and who is said to be a close friend of Mavado was shot and killed in the vicinity of the Constant Spring Market on Saturday night about 9:30 pm.
Then on Tuesday morning, Thomas who is said to be a close friend of the man who fired at Mavado was murdered. This killing is believed to be an act of reprisal.
