Westmoreland, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Massive Weapon Seizure: A raid conducted at the cells at the Negril lockup in Westmoreland led to the seizure of a large amount of assorted knives, cellular phones and chargers, cash and a quantity of ganja. The police in the parish have pointed out that the search came about following the stabbing death of a teenaged prisoner at the lockup over a week ago.
Our news team also learnt that following the stabbing statements were collected from other inmates and a file is being prepared to be sent off to the DPP’s Office in Kingston for a ruling. According to investigators following the stabbing death of an inmate at the lockup on Sunday night, August 20, 2017, an investigation was carried out but no official arrest has yet been made.
19-yr-old Christopher Hinds of a Petersfield address was reported facing a murder charge at the lockup.
About 7:15 pm on Sunday, Hinds was on the cell block when an altercation developed between himself and another inmate. Minutes later the guards heard the victim crying for help and after they rushed inside the cell block, Hinds was discovered lying on his back in a pool of blood with what appeared to be stab wounds to his upper body.
He was transported to the Sav-la-mar Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
