Massive Bush Fire in Clarendon

Jamaica News: Firefighters at the May Pen fire department were kept busy Wednesday night due to a massive bush fire along the tollgate main road in clarendon.
The blaze wasn’t contained until close to midnight and razed several acres.
Swift action from the firefighters prevented the blaze from engulfing four homes.
We understand the blaze was started by a lady who lit a garbage pile behind her home.
A few weeks ago the head of the May Pen fire department revealed the unit had to respond to close to 100 fires in May alone, most of them bush fires.
Persons were therefore being urged to stop starting rubbish fires or using the slash and burn farm technique as the dry conditions facing sections of the island make these fires harder to control.
