Jamaica News: The PNP will have to find a new standard bearer for Western St Thomas following Marsha Francis’ decision to step aside.
Francis was involved in a bruising political race with the JLP’s James Robertson in the last general election, which she eventually lost by just over 300 votes.
Miss Francis who made the announcement via social media did not say why she won’t contest the next general election in the constituency, but thanked her supporters.
“I would like to use this opportunity to thank you for your confidence and support over the years. The word is love.”
Most of those who responded to her post expressed shock at the decision and urged her to reconsider.
