- Jamaica News: Revelers and vacation seekers have yet another public beach option thanks to the work of the Tourism Enhancement Fund TEF in St Mary.
The Marking Stone Beach in Annotto Bay was declared open to the public over the weekend, just days before one of the traditional beach holidays in Jamaica: from August 1-6.
The beach was upgraded by the TEF at a cost of $38.3 million. Facilities now include bathrooms, a lifeguard station,gazebos as well sunbeds and benches.
The official opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Tourism Ed Bartlett.
TEF has been upgrading several beaches across the country to make them more attractive and free for the public as many of the popular beaches now attract admission costs.
