A JUTA operator was arrested and charged by authorities on Monday after police discovered more than US$29,000 worth of cocaine in his vehicle.
Kirk Lewis, 45, of Manchester, was charged last Wednesday after he was reportedly caught with 0.598 kilogrammes (1.3 pounds) of the drugs. He faces charges of cocaine possession, trafficking, and dealing, as well as conspiracy.
Lewis is scheduled to appear in Manchester Parish Court on Friday to answer the allegations.
The Narcotics police reported that at approximately 6:35 p.m., on Wednesday, detectives from the division stopped a white Honda Accord motor vehicle travelling along the New Green main road with the accused inside.
According to the police, the car was searched and the cocaine, with an estimated street value of US$29,450, was discovered in a bag. Lewis was arrested and later charged following investigations.
