Detectives attached to the St James police Division are probing the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man, and the injuring of another, on the Maroon Town main road in the parish, on Friday, February 25.
The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Marlon Smith, otherwise called ‘Rat Nation’ a vendor of Pimento Hill, German Town in St James.
Reports from the Spring Mount police are that about 9:20pm, Smith and the other man were walking along a section of the roadway when they were pounced upon by armed men who opened fire hitting them both.
The police were summoned and on their arrival, the wounded victims were taken to hospital, where Smith was pronounced dead and the other man admitted in serious condition.
