Man Shot and Injured, Handed Over Firearm To Police

Jamaica Crime News, Westmoreland: A Westmoreland man who was reportedly shot and injured by an unknown assailant, managed to subdue his attacker and handed over the same firearm to the police.

The incident reportedly took place in Truro District in Westmoreland on Monday.

Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar Police are that about 10:50 p.m., the complainant was in the process of opening the door of his home when he was approached by an armed man who opened fire at him. A tussle ensued between both men during which the complainant was shot. However, the injured man managed to disarm his attacker who subsequently escaped in the area.

The Police were summoned and a Browning 9mm pistol and nine rounds of ammunition were subsequently handed over to them.

The injured man was taken to hospital where he has been admitted in serious but stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.
