St Andrew, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – Man Set Free of 2016 Soldier Murder: one of three men charged with the 2016 murder of a Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldier in a barber shop on Cross Roads, in the parish of St Andrew, was released from the fatal shooting, when he appeared in the St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday, January 10.
Dwayne Bedasse who was accused of shooting dead JDF Lance Corporal Ricardo Bennett, 31-year-old on September 2, 2016, appeared before the St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday and was released from the charge of murder.
Bedasse was also freed of charges of Misprision of Felony and Accessory After the Fact.
Court documents state that Bennett was inside a barber shop in Cross Roads, in the parish of St Andrew, when a group of men entered, allegedly including Bedasse and opened fire, hitting him.
Bennett reportedly returned the fire, hitting one of the men.
Both the soldier and the injured gunman were taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The case against the other two accused men will be heard in the Home Circuit Court.
