Man says Girlfriend’s Pretty Face was Causing Problems

Jamaica News: A man accused of threatening to slash his girlfriend’s face, as well as to indicate to her that her pretty face was a problem, was hauled before the St. James parish court on Wednesday for allegedly stabbing the woman.

Thirty-three-year-old Lorenzo Wright of Hopewell, Hanover showed up in the St. James Parish Court to answer to charges of unlawful wounding and possession of an offensive weapon.

The court did not outline the details that surrounds the incident, but court records revealed that on March 28 this year, the woman was on her way out of town when Wright attacked her and used a knife to inflict a wound to her left hand.

Further allegations are that he also threatened to slash her face, as he said her pretty face was the problem.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, it was revealed in court that the complainant had no further interest in the relationship and did not wish to pursue the case any further.

At that point, presiding judge Sandria Wong-Small encouraged Wright to move on with his life since the complainant was no longer interested.

The judge also encouraged the accused man to return to Hopewell where he was initially residing.

Wong-Small subsequently fined the accused man $2,500 or 10 days for having the knife in his possession, and no further evidence was offered, in respect of the wounding charge.
