Montego Bay, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – Man Possessing Offensive Weapon Fined: A man found in possession of a ratchet knife has been fined in court.
Gary Morris, who is of a St. James address pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon on Wednesday, July 12 when he appeared in the St. James Parish Court.
The allegations were not read out in court but the prosecution revealed that the police relieved the accused man of a ratchet knife.
“Your honour please, if I have to use it in my trade, what am I suppose to use?’ Morris asked Parish Judge Sandria Wong-Small.
“I suggest you get a utility knife Mr. Morris,” replied the judge.
“You cannot walk around with a ratchet knife because they are going to prosecute you for it sir,” the judge added.
She subsequently fined Morris $2,500 or 10 days behind bars.
