Man Held with Illegal Firearm at Security Checkpoint

Latest Jamaica News, St James: One man was arrested and charged in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm, at the security checkpoint, in Montpelier, St James, on Wednesday night, July 10.

He has been identified as 46-year-old Lloyd Parkins, of Galloway District, in Bethel Town, Westmoreland.

Reports by the police are that about 9:30 p.m., Parkins was traveling on a passenger bus from the directions of Montego Bay, towards Bethel Town.

On reaching the security checkpoint in Montpelier, a search was carried out of the bus.and the passengers, which resulted in Parkins being held with a Taurus .38 pistol, containing six live rounds.

He is booked to appear in the Western Regional Gun Court on Tuesday, July 16.
