Jamaica Crime News, St Mary; Detectives attached to the Independent Commission of Investigation “INDECOM” and the Inspectorate of Constabulary have now commenced an investigation surrounding the fatal shooting of a man in the parish of St Mary on Wednesday night, August 1.
The alleged gunman has been identified as, Morris Henry, 29-year-old laborer of Frazer Wood district also in St Mary.
The police say a .38 Beretta pistol fitted with a magazine containing eight live .380 rounds was taken from him.
Reports by the St Mary police are that about 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday, a team of officers were carrying out patrols in sections of the area when they came upon a group of men.
Upon seeing the police, the men brandished handguns and opened fire at the police. The fire was returned and during the shooting Henry was shot.
The other men made their escape in the area, while the illegal weapon was taken from the wounded man who was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
