Jamaica Crime News: A man who allegedly challenged members of a police patrol in a shootout, along a section of the Cedar Valley Road in St Andrew on Monday night of July 2nd , was shot and killed and an illegal firearm taken from him.
The alleged gunman has been identified as Shawn Williams also of Cedar Valley address.
Reports by the Half Way Tree Police are that, about 9:20 pm, on Monday, a team of officers were carrying out patrol duties along a section of Cedar Valley road area known as Stand Pipe, when Williams was seen.
It is further reported that upon seeing the lawmen approaching, Williams brandished a handgun and open fire at the police. The fire was returned and during the shooting Williams was shot and killed.
A Glock semi-automatic pistol loaded with one live round was taken from him. The gunman was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead. In the meanwhile a team of investigators attached to INDECOM are now carrying out investigation into this latest shooting.
