A 36-year-old man who reportedly attacked a licensed firearm holder, in Bethel Town, Westmoreland on Saturday night, was shot and killed.

The dead man has been identified as Cliff Reid, labour of Aston district also in Westmoreland.

Reports by the police are that about 11:25 p.m., on Saturday, February 23, Reid and other persons were travelling in a motor car along the Woodstock main road in Bethel Town when they came upon a Leland motor truck which was allegedly blocking the road.

A heated argument immediately started between the driver of both vehicles, during what time Reid alighted from the vehicle and allegedly attacked the truck driver, not knowing that he was a licensed firearm holder.

He then pulled his licensed firearm and shot Reid to his upper body.

The police were summoned and upon their arrival, Reid was rushed to the Savannah la mar hospital, where he was pronounced dead and the licensed firearm holder taken into custody.
