Man Commits Suicide After Stabbing his Wife 17 Times

St James, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Man Commits Suicide: A 57-year-old man who attempted to take the life of his wife by stabbing her over 17 times at their family home in Tangle River, St James, took his own life minutes later by hanging himself from a breadfruit tree in their yard.

The victim has been identified as Everton Hinds, otherwise called Cookie or Dick, Shell Gas Operator of Tangle River District in St James.

The Spring Mount police reported that shortly after 2:30 am, Hinds contacted his daughter by telephone and informed her that something had taken place at their home in Tangle River.

The police were alerted and upon their arrival, the 58-year-old wife of the deceased was discovered in a bedroom of the house, which was splattered with blood. Closer investigations revealed that she was stabbed over 17 times.

She was immediately transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where she was admitted in intensive care.

Further search of the property led to the discovery of Hinds body which was hanging from a length of rope tied around the branch of a breadfruit tree.

It is reported that the couple had been having problems for a while now.
