Man Charged with Double Murder Given Bail

Latest Jamaica News, St Thomas (McKoy’s News): A man who was allegedly on the run for the shooting death of two men with whom he had been involved in a vehicle collision along a roadway in St Thomas last year, has been granted bail in court.

Garfield Gredory, a resident of Llandewey, St Thomas, was charged with two counts of murder and one count of illegal possession of firearm.

He was offered bail in the sum of $800,000 when he appeared in the St Thomas Parish Court recently.

As a condition of his bail, he is to reside outside the parish and his case is to be mentioned again on July 1.

It is being reported that Gredory, who was on the run from December last year, surrendered in February and was subsequently charged with the killing of the two men.

On December 19, the victims, Marlon Simms, a 43-year-old resident of Albion, and a man only identified as ‘Piper’, of 11 Miles, Bull Bay, both in St Thomas, were killed in an encounter after an alleged collision with Gredory.

The police had reported that Simms and ‘Piper’, along with a woman, went to Easington in the parish after the vehicle they were in was involved in a collision with another vehicle reportedly driven by Gredory.

He had reportedly invited the two men and the woman to discuss a settlement for damages in the collision.

They were, however, reportedly ambushed and the two men were killed by unknown assailants, who fled the scene thereafter.

The woman was not harmed.

Gredory, who was identified as a suspect, went into hiding following the shooting incident.
