Man Charged for Murdering Girlfriend and Arson, Remains in custody

Latest Jamaica News, St Elizabeth (McKoy’s News): Man Charged for Murdering Girlfriend A man who reportedly murdered his girlfriend and then set their house ablaze with her body inside, was remained in lock up after he appeared in court.

The incident took place in Accompong Town, St Elizabeth last year.

Steve Green, a mason of Accompong Town appeared before the judge in the St Elizabeth Parish Court recently. He was charged with the death of 39-year-old businesswoman, Marsha Lennon and was also charged with arson.

Reports are that about 6.30 am on Friday, March 23, 2018, residents saw the house on fire, and summoned the police and the fire brigade.

The Santa Cruz Fire Station responded and while in the process of cooling down operations, the remains of Lennon were found under a burnt-out mattress in the house she shared with green.

The accused man was found unconscious with several burns to his body outside the burning house, and was taken to a hospital.

A post-mortem examination later confirmed that Lennon had been killed before the house was set on fire. Following a probe, Green was arrested and charged for the killing.

He is scheduled to return to court on November 28.
