A man has been charged with the murder of two men at a St Andrew plaza, last month.
He is thirty-six-year-old Oral Thompson otherwise called ‘Brown Man’, of McWhinney Street in Kingston.
Thompson was charged with the murder of 52-year-old Clarence Betten, a businessman of Red Hills Boulevard, Kingston 20, and 30-year-old Odane Thomas of Harvey Road, Kingston 13.
Reports from the Half-Way-Tree Police are that about 9:25 p.m., on Saturday, July 25, Betten and Thomas were among a group of persons standing on the plaza when Thompson approached and opened gunfire hitting them.
He was challenged by a licensed firearm holder but escaped.
The Police were summoned and Betten and Thomas were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Subsequent to the shooting incident, Thompson turned up at a hospital suffering from gunshot injuries, apparently sustained from gunfire of licensed firearm holder.
He was admitted and treated under police guard and was later charged with two counts of murder on Friday, August 7 following his release from hospital.
