Jamaica Crime News, Manchester: 24-year-old Rojay Brown, of Ritches in Clarendon was fined $120,000 when he appeared in the Manchester Parish Court on Wednesday, February 20.

Brown pleaded guilty to charges of malicious destruction of property in relation to the incident in Spaulding, Manchester on Tuesday, February 5, which led to a police officer being physically abused, a bus operator shot, and a police service vehicle destroyed.

Following the incident Brown was pointed out to be one of the men caught on camera destroying a police service vehicle. During his appearance in court on Wednesday, he was issued bail in the sum of $70,000, with surety and ordered to return to court on April 17.

Since that incident occurred the police High Command made it quite clear that they are now asking members of the public to cease from interfering with police officers while carrying out their lawful duties.

According to the police High command, while officers are trained to deal with different situations, it is imperative that citizens recognize that they have a duty to comply with the officer, and not to encourage others to attack the police.
