Man Caught with Illegal Firearm in Constant Spring

Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: One man is now in police custody after he was caught in possession of an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition in Constant Spring, St Andrew on Friday night.

The police have reported that the identity of the accused is being withheld pending further investigations.

Reports by the police are that about 10:30 p.m. on Friday,  a team of officers were on Patrol duties at a section of Castle Heights District when they came upon a group of men.

On seeing the police, one of the men ran and he was chased and held. A search of his person was carried out and it resulted in the seizure of a  Browning 9mm semi-automatic pistol loaded with 14 live 9mm rounds.

The illegal weapon was seized and the accused taken into custody where he is now waiting to be charged.
