Man Carrying Knife Charged

St James, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Man Carrying Knife Charged: A man who was reportedly caught with a knife in his possession is set to go to trial.
Garfield Mason appeared in the St. James Parish Court today where he pleaded guilty with explanation to possession of an offensive weapon.
The particulars of the allegations were not outlined but Parish Judge Sandria Wong-Small allowed the accused man to explain to the court why he was carrying a knife.
In his explanation, Mason told the court that he used the knife to do his work.
“I do painting and plastering and when it gets messy, I have to use it to scrape the paint,” Mason explained.
Mason also told the court that the knife was not on his person and that it was in his working bag with his other tools.
In light of what the accused man had said, the judge said she would enter a plea of not guilty and deferred the matter until August 24 when he will face his trial.
