Man Being Sought for Murder in St James, Turns Himself Over to Police

Jamaica Crime News, St James: The St. James Police have confirmed that, a man who was being sought in connection with the recent double murder of two men in Rose Heights, turned himself over to the police on Monday afternoon.

He has been identified as, 30-year-old Everal Stephenson, otherwise called “Eva” laborer of Bronx, also in Rose Heights.

Stephenson turned himself over to the police at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Monday, in the presence of his lawyer. He was being sought for the Thursday, March 28 murder of two men in his community.

Those killed have been identified as, 35-year-old Dwayne Stennett, otherwise called “Rasta”, laborer of Branch Hall and his cousin Shane Williams, otherwise called “Tino”, of the same address.

Reports by the Mount Salem Police are that about 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Stennett and Williams, were among a group of men standing in a yard in Rose Heights when they were ambushed and shot by two armed men.

They were rushed to hospital, where Stennett and Williams were pronounced dead and the other three victims admitted in serious conditions.

Following the shooting, Superintendent Vernon Ellis, Commanding Officer in Charge of St. James, related that the police are now in search of the suspects in connection with the Rose Heights double murder, and he is asking these men to turn themselves over to the police, in short order.

Stephenson’s name was later listed as the man being sought for the killings.
