Man Arrested and Charges for Illegal Firearm Seizure in Kingston
Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: One man was arrested and charged in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition in Kingston on Monday, April 23.
Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition is Omally Christobel, otherwise called “Mali” 20-year-old unemployed of St Johns Lane also in Kingston.
Reports by the Central Police are that shortly after 12:55 p.m. on Monday, a team of officers attached to the Proactive Investigation Unit (PIU) were carrying out operations in the St Johns Lane area when they saw the accused who was immediately acting in a suspicious manner.
Christobel was accosted and when searched a Glock 22 semi-automatic pistol loaded with 13 live rounds was taken from his waistband.
He was then taken back to his house and following a search of the inside, an additional 19 live rounds were discovered in a bedside table drawer.
He was taken into custody and subsequently charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition. He is booked to appear in the Gun Court in downtown Kingston on Friday morning, April 27.
