Main Suspect in Murder of Elderly Couple in Portland Remanded In Custody on Fraud Charges

Jamaica Crime News, Portland: A man who was recently slapped with multiple fraud charges, and who is also the Prime suspect in the death of two senior citizens who were discovered murdered at their home in Hope Bay Area of Portland on Friday evening of June 22nd, was remanded into custody when he appeared before the Portland Parish Court on Tuesday, July 10.

The accused Saquino Farr, 24-year-old auto mechanic of Mount Pleasant, was charged last Wednesday afternoon with seven counts of obtaining goods by means of false pretense and Conspiracy to defraud. He was ordered to return to court on July 31.

Farr is also the prime suspect in the murder of 75-year-old Alfred Anderson, otherwise called “Charlie” and his wife Florence Anderson, otherwise called “Gayle” both of Mount Pleasant in Hope Bay, Portland and London in England.

He has not yet been charged in connection with the double murder.

Reports are that, shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Friday, residents living in Mount Pleasant stumbled upon the bodies of the elderly couple lying in a pool of blood in their yard.

The police were alerted and upon arrival, Mr. Anderson’s partially burnt body was discovered in the yard and his wife discovered a few chains away with multiple stab wounds.  The scene was processed and the victims pronounced dead at hospital.

Following a series of investigations, Farr was taken into custody in connection with the murder of the couple. It was also discovered that cash amounting to over JA $8 million was defrauded from the bank account of the slain couple.

It was also disclosed that Farr’s mother was the helper at the couple’s house over the years and the couple then took in the suspect as a son.
