USA(McKoy’s News)- Lottery Scammer Imprisoned:Forty nine year-old Claude Shaw of Miramar, Florida, USA was sentenced on Friday, June 2, to serve 36 months in prison and three years supervised release.

He was involved in a lottery scam which has associations with Jamaicans.

Shaw pleaded guilty on March 22, to one count of mail fraud and was also ordered to pay $128,440 US dollars in restitution.

According to court papers, between September 2013 and August 2015, Shaw participated in a scheme to defraud victims in the USA.

Targeted Americans received telephone calls informing them that they had won over a million US dollars in a lottery and needed to pay in advance to claim the winnings.

The US Department of Justice said the Americans would each send hundreds of thousands to Shaw who would then forward some of the money to Jamaica.

These targeted victims never received lottery winnings.
