Local Reggae Singer Daniel Rose Freed of Criminal Charges in Court

Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: Daniel Rose FreedLocal reggae singer, 28-year-old Daniel Rose, who was charged with the December 2011 shooting of his neighbor in Lawrence Tavern, St Andrew, was freed of charges when he appeared in the gun court in downtown Kingston, on Wednesday morning, May 29.

Rose who is the nephew of Reggae icon, Buju Banton, was facing charges of shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Reports are that on the night of the incident, the complainant was at his home in Lawrence Tavern, when a group of armed men kicked open the door to his house and opened fire on him.

The complainant managed to escape and after making a report to the police, Rose was arrested and later charged.

While in court on Wednesday Rose attorney, Peter Champagne cross-examined the complainant who admitted that he did not identify Rose’s voice in his written statement to the police.

Rose was found not guilty and freed of charges.
