Liquor Truck Driver Shoots Bus Driver to Death in Montego Bay
Montego Bay, St James (Mckoy’sNews) – A bus operator who allegedly attacked a liquor truck driver with a lug-tool was shot and killed in Montego Bay on Tuesday morning, May 2.
The victim has been identified as Jason Barnes bus operator and shop operator of a Lethe address in Hanover.
Reports are that about 9:30 am on Tuesday, Barnes who was operating a Toyota HIACE mini bus from uptown Montego Bay to Lethe community was parked outside a supermarket along Bevin Drive.
The liquor truck driver who is a licenses firearm holder, drove to the area to deliver liquor and the truck reportedly blocked the HIACE mini bus that Barnes was driving.
He jumped from the bus and approached the truck driver and an argument started between both men. It is further alleged that the victim reached for a lug tool and attacked the trucker.
The liquor truck driver reportedly drew his firearm and fired two shots in the direction of Barnes, hitting him in the upper regions of his body.
Barnes fell dead immediately after being shot.
The Barnett Street police were summoned to the location and upon arrival the scene was processed and Barnes body transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Dwight Crawford, JLP Councilor for the Spring Gardens Division told Mckoy”s News team that the victim is known to him, and he is a humble and kind individual and his death came as a shock to him.
