The Spanish Town police have arrested a licensed firearm holder who was held with an illegal firearm, along a section of the Old Harbor Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine on Sunday, February 9th.
The name of the accused is been withheld pending further investigations.
Reports by the police are that shortly after 5:00 p.m., the accused was driving a Honda Aquara motor car through a joint military checkpoint at Innswood, along Old Harbor Road in Spanish Town, when he was signaled to stop.
He complied and it was discovered that he was a licensed firearm holder, but a further search of the vehicle led to the seizure of an illegal handgun, a Taurus 9mm semi-automatic pistol.
The accused man was taken into custody and will be subsequently charged.
