Following earlier reports that a soup vendor was shot and killed in downtown Montego Bay, on Tuesday night, September 24, the police have confirmed that the victim was, in fact, a security guard, who was was shot and killed by a lone gunman while purchasing soup from the popular soup vendor.
He has been identified as 26-year-old Lamar Lawrence, of Hendon, Norwood, also in St James.
Reports by the police are that about shortly after 10:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Lawrence was standing in the vicinity of the soup vendor’s hand cart kitchen at the intersection of St James Street, and Bottom Union Street, when a man walked over to him and hurled a barrage of expletives at him.
The man then brandished a handgun and chased the Lawrence a short distance away, and opened fire hitting him multiple times to his upper body.
The police were summoned and upon their arrival, Lawrence was found lying along the roadway, with multiple gunshot wounds.
The scene was processed and the body later pronounced dead.
