Jamaica News, March 15, 2018 – Labour Ministry Fraud

Kingston, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – The Kingston police have indicated that investigators attached to the Major Organized Crime and Anti Corruption Agency (MOCA), along with officers attached to the Financial Investigations Division, are now carrying out a number of raids around the parish of Kingston and St Andrew, in connection with the recently reported fraud at the Labour Ministry Department.

It was recently reported that investigators had uncovered a scheme within the Labour Ministry Department, where persons employed to the Ministry have been abusing their position by allegedly defrauding the company of funds,  through the means of generating and facilitating fraudulent payments.

It is alleged that these particular payments have been carried out by certain individuals within the company, who have been paying over cheques amounting to millions of dollars to family members through the Rehabilitation Program.

MOCA is now carrying out investigations within the office of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security Rehabilitation Program at Heroes Circle and also at the homes of several of the individual who are said to be involved in the scheme.
