LABOUR DAY CRASH

LABOUR DAY CRASH

There was a lengthy pile-up of traffic along the Llandovery section of the North Coast Highway, in St Ann, Thursday afternoon, when a Mark X motorcar ran off the road and overturned into a ditch next to the eastbound lane.

Reports are that about 4 p.m., the silver Mark X with the driver and two passengers aboard was heading east toward Ocho Rios when it ran off the wet road, smashed into a utility pole, uprooted it and careened off the road ending up in a ditch.

No one was seriously injured. Passersby assisted the occupants from the vehicle and held the downed utility wires out of the road, allowing traffic to pass. However, it is said that some motorists failed to follow the signals of the persons trying to direct traffic resulting in more chaos which was not necessary.
