Kingston, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – A special team of Detectives and a team from the Independent Commission of Investigation are carrying out a full investigation into the death of a female. She was discovered with a single bullet wound to her head, immediately after a heated gun battle between the police and gunmen, in the Clarence Villa area of Admiral Town on Monday, February 26.
The woman who lost her life in the exchange of gunfire has been identified as 30-year-old Lisa McLaughlin, unemployed of Clarence Villa.
Reports are that on Monday afternoon, a team of officers attached to the Admiral Town Police Station was carrying out patrol duties at sections of Clarence Villa, when they saw a man identified as Mickie Moore acting in a suspicious manner.
Moore who is said to be involved in gang activities in the area, was searched and a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol with serial number erased was taken from him.
Admiral Town Shootout: While in the process of placing the accused under arrest, a group of heavily armed men came from behind some houses and opened fire at the police. The fire was returned and the gunmen made their escape on foot in the area.
Some minutes later, residents in the area raised an alarm after they stumbled upon the female lying on the floor of her one-room board dwelling house in a pool of blood.
The police were called to the house and upon arrival, they discovered that the victim has a single gunshot wound to her head. There was also a single bullet hole through the board structure of the house.
Investigators are now trying to determine if the female was killed during the exchange of gunfire, from the gunmen or the police bullets.
