Kingston, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – Teachers Forcibly Cut Boy’s Hair: Three teachers from the Vauxhall High School in Kingston have been charged by police for holding down a student and cutting his hair.

According to reports, on Tuesday, three teachers reportedly held down a student and gave him a haircut against his will.  Thursday (June 1), the teachers were charged with assault and injury.

According to the student, he was pinned down at school and the teachers forcibly cut his hair.  The student said he was injured during the incident.

The child’s parent said the school sent him home on Monday because of the height of his hair, and they (parents) gave him money to get a haircut and he did, but the student said when he arrived at school the next day, he was again approached about the height of the hair.

The father reported that it was just before devotion on Tuesday, the teachers held him down and cut his hair.

Acting Principal at Vauxhall High School, Prudence Brown-Pinnock says the school has collected statements from the parents, student and teachers and that the matter was reported to the School Board and the Ministry of Education.  Mrs Brown-Pinnock said the child received counselling on the day of the incident.
