United States Of America (Yahoo Sports)- Justin Verlander Missed The Astros Parade To Marry Kate Upton And People Are Mad: The Houston Astros celebrated their World Series win with a parade Friday. It had all the usual things — cheering fans, victory speeches, proclamations from politicians and more smiles than you count. There was only one thing missing: Justin Verlander.
The Astros’ ace pitcher, as you might have heard, is reportedly getting married this weekend in Italy to his supermodel fiancée Kate Upton. That and a World Series win in the same week, huh? It doesn’t suck to be Justin Verlander.
One problem: Some people on Twitter seem shocked, outraged and/or surprised by Verlander’s decision. Behold:
“So, we know who wears the pants in the family. Verlander finally earns a parade, misses it because KATE WANTS TO GET MARRIED NOW.”
“So Verlander went to get married instead of being with his team today?! Not a good look man ????”
“Can’t believe Justin Verlander actually missed the Astros parade. Like, I get it, but man, they couldn’t put the wedding off for a day?”
“Justin Verlander needs to hire a better wedding planner.”
“Justin verlander played himself not being at the parade.”
“Verlander SHOULD Have Postponed the Wedding…”

Then there’s Lloyd over here, who is trying to change Kate’s mind in the 11th hour:
“@KateUpton Verlander is a front runner and chokes when he gets behind.”
Dunno, Lloyd. It might be too late. He just won a World Series, ya know?
About that World Series, fellow Astros pitcher Dallas Keuchel was at least kind enough to give Verlander a shout out during the speech portion of the festivities, noting that Verlander wasn’t there. He then appeared to record a video of the crowd cheering for Verlander.
Dallas Keuchel at #Astros Championship Rally: “Houston, what the hell took us so long to win a World Series.” Gives shout out to Justin Verlander.
Is it ideal for Verlander to miss the World Series parade? Probably not. Is it understandable to miss it for his wedding? Sure.
You gotta remember: He was playing for the Detroit Tigers until Aug. 31. And we all know the Tigers weren’t thinking about a World Series parade back in August.
