Justice Bryan Sykes to Act as Chief Justice

Kingston, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Justice Bryan Sykes: Chief Justice Zaila McCalla has retired and as a result of her retirement, Justice Bryan Sykes, a judge of the Supreme Court, has been appointed to act as Chief Justice until further advised.

Justice Sykes, who started as a clerk at the Sutton Street Criminal Court almost 30 years ago, is highly trained in international law.

Attorney General Marlene Malahoo Forte, who made the announcement at a special sitting of the Supreme Court Tuesday morning, disclosed that Prime Minister Andrew Holness has advised Governor General Sir Patrick Allen to make the appointment.
