Judge Denied Appeal of Convicted Lawyer who Slapped a Cop in the Face

Kingston Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – Supreme Court Justice David Batts denied an appeal filed by a convicted lawyer who slapped a cop in the face. Attorney Lennox Gayle was found guilty of boxing a police Superintendent in the face after he tried to arrest him.

The Judge told the attorney-at-law that no one is above the law.

Attorney-at-law, Lennox Gayle was found guilty in August 2012 of assaulting the police Superintendent and resisting arrest in breach of the Jamaica Constabulary Force Act.

Per court documents Gayle slapped the Superintendent of Police after he attempted to arrest him for violation of the  Noise Abatement Act at an entertainment event.

Justice David Batts upheld Gayle’s conviction after review of the case, he found that the Superintendent had a valid reason for carrying out his lawful duty in arresting Gayle for breech of the  Noise Abatement Act.

The judge then gave an order to the Registrar of the Supreme court to send a copy of his judgement to the chairman of the General Council of Jamaica for an investigation into the lawyers actions, and steps taken by the Council if deemed necessary.
