Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – JSIF Signing 121 Million Dollar Project: On Friday, June 23, joyful community members from Barrett Town in St James, gathered at their community center in Barrett Town and welcomed the team from Jamaica Social Investment Fund, for the historical $121 Million Contract Signing and Ground Breaking Ceremony to upgrade the community.
The function commenced at 10:00 am and saw a host of community members, the police, a team from JSIF along with His Worship Homer Davis, the Councillor of the Barrett Town Division, Anthony Murray and the Contractors in attendance.
The Project which will be constructed at the tune of $121 million, will see the contractors carrying out a full upgrading of Roads Water System, Electricity, Drainage, Concrete Channels and Pipe laying.
Managing Director at JSIF, Omar Sweeney who was the main speaker, told community members that his team is very proud to be breaking ground for such a historical project.
He declared that this venture is to improve citizen security and community safety in the area. This he says, will give full support to the police and emergencies services to ensure better community Safety.
Over the past months, Barrett Town has been greatly affected by crime and violence. The government representatives are currently working with the Parish Council and JSIF on the project which will start with Barrett town.
18 other such crime affected communities across Jamaica will benefit from the same contract signing projects.
