Jamaica News, March 2, 2018 – Joint Military Team Seized Illegal Firearm

St James, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – A joint military patrol which was being carried out at sections of the Granville policing area in St James on Thursday, March 1,  resulted in the seizure of an illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition.

The police say no one was arrested in connection with the seizure, which is said to be a Taurus 9 mm semi-automatic pistol loaded with 4 live 9mm rounds.

Reports are that shortly after 11:10 p.m. on Thursday,  the lawmen were carrying out patrol duties in Retirement District when they saw two men acting in a suspicious manner.  Upon seeing the police, both men ran and one threw away an object.

The police gave chase but the men escaped.

Following a search of the area, the illegal weapon was discovered in bushes.
