Montego Bay, Jamaica (McKoy’s News) – Charles Gordon Market: A joint military operation carried out at the Charles Gordon market in Montego Bay and around the Market Circle on Thursday morning, January 25th, resulted in the seizure of several illegal motor vehicles, arrest of several men and clamping down on dozens of illegal vendors.
The operation which is part of the State of Emergency started early on Thursday morning with the joint military team swooping down on the market vendors. Several stalls, shops, and motor vehicles were searched and several men were detained and illegal goods confiscated.
The security team closed all point of entry and exit to the marketplace and also carried out searches of motor vehicles travelling by that route. A total of seven motor vehicles which breached the road traffic act were seized and towed away by wrecker to the pound.
The military team was joined by the market warders and the market security team who seized a large number of goods from vendors who were considered to be carrying out illegal vending outside the market. Also, a number of Push Carts were seized and destroyed.
