A Jamaica Defence force soldier lost his life in a motor vehicle accident which occurred in Westmoreland on Sunday night, February 10, two other soldiers who were travelling in the JDF service vehicle also sustained injuries and have been treated at the hospital.
He has been identified as Private Javarnie Lewis, a Jamaica Defence Force soldier, based in Westmoreland.
Reports by the Grange Hill police are that about 9:30 p.m., on Sunday, Private Javarnie Lewis and two other soldiers were travelling in a service vehicle along the Grange Hill main road.
On reaching a section of the roadway the service vehicle reportedly hit a pothole, and the driver lost control and the crashed into a utility pole.
Lewis and the other two soldiers sustained injuries and were rushed to the Savannah la mar hospital, where Lewis was later airlifted to KPH where he died while being treated.
