JDF Soldier and Wife Facing Drug Charges Granted Bail

Jamaica Crime News, St Catherine: Our news team has been informed that the Jamaica Defense Force soldier and his wife, who were recently charged in connection with the seizure of a large quantity of ganja and amount of cash which at their home in St Catherine, were granted bail when they   appeared in Court on Friday, May 18.

The accused Dwayne Stephenson and his wife Stacy-Ann Stephenson are both facing charges of Possession of, Dealing in Ganja, Taking steps to export ganja, Using premises for drugs and Conspiracy and possession of Criminal property.

They were both granted bail in the sum of $600,000 each with sureties and we’re both ordered to surrender their travel documents.

The police have reported that, between the hours of 12:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., the Narcotic Police carried out an operation at a house in Greater Portmore which was occupied by the couple.

During the operation, compressed and loose ganja weighing approximately 651 pounds was seized.

Also, cash amounting to JA $265,000, a licensed firearm and two motor vehicles were seized.

Both accused were taken into custody and subsequently charged in connection with the seizure of the drugs.

They are booked to reappear in the St Catherine Parish Court on July 26.
