Jamaica Crime News, Kingston: A Jamaica Defense Soldier who is attached to the Coast Guard Division in Kingston, was taken into custody on Wednesday, October 17.
The name of the accused JDF soldier who resides at Whitehall district in Kingston 8, is being withheld pending further investigations.
Reports by the Kingston police are that on Wednesday afternoon, a team of officers were carrying out patrol duties along Oliver Road in Rockford, Kingston 2, when they saw a man acting in a suspicious manner.
The man who later turned out to be the Coast Guard soldier, was accosted and searched.
During a search of his person, a Browning 9mm semi-automatic pistol, loaded with thirteen live 9mm rounds was taken from him.
The soldier was taken into custody and subsequently charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
