St Catherine, Jamaica (Mckoy’s News) – Journalist Janice Budd Dead: The Jamaican journalist fraternity has lost colleague Janice Budd, who died yesterday evening at her home in St Catherine after struggling with cancer.
Ms Budd was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago and hospitalised, taking her away from her role since 2015 as manager of operations, communications and member services for the Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ) – which she was optimistic to return to, according to the SAJ.
Journalist Janice Budd was employed for several years as a reporter, presenter and editor for media houses such as the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation, CVM TV, RJR and the Jamaica Observer.

Leaving mainstream journalism, her career path lead her to the communications unit at the National Commercial Bank, before venturing on to the SAJ.

Alumni of Westwood High School and The University of the West Indies, Ms Budd served for over 22 years in broadcast media, journalism and print media.
She died at her home, where she was continuing treatment.
Opposition Leader Peter Phillips in his condolence statement said her untimely passing was another major blow in the nation’s media.
