Jamaican Rapper Safaree Awarded! Nadine Sutherland Give Thanks

Bronx, NY (Mckoy’s News) – Jamaican rapper and VH1 TV superstar Safaree was at a loss for words when he was presented with the 2017 Blue & Bougie Impact Award at the sold-out event inside Mingles Cafe in the Bronx recently.


I never got an award before…didn’t even know what to do”,  he posted on his Instagram page hours later.

“But thank you so much for my Impact Award @blueandbougie … I could write 5 paragraphs but it wouldn’t capture how grateful I am… Thank you everyone who’s been rocking with the underdog #safaree”,  he continued.

RAPPER SAFAREE GRATEFUL: The Brooklyn based rapper was flooded with hundreds of congratulatory messages from fans on his IG page which had over 100K views.

Stalwart singer and performing arts director Nadine Sutherland was beaming with pride when she posted on her Facebook page how elated she was to be among the honorees.

“I’m here feeling elated…To be recognized for your work on a diaspora level was awesome. The Blue and Bougie Impact Awards recognition validated thoughts I had about myself as an artist. Then, you recieve the news that your reggae industry, the JARIA Awards decided to honor you also. Bawling with pride!.Okay are you ready world! Please welcome Nadine Sutherland Reggae Icon Female 2018!!

Among the celebrities sending congratulatory messages for Sutherland, was Bob Marley’s daughter Cedella Marley.

“Original #CHO..NADINE Sutherland, whose career started over 35 years ago as a child singer, is one of five persons to be honored at the inaugural Blue & Bougie party…#PureNiceness Nadine Sutherland” Marley posted on her Facebook page.

Sutherland responded saying, “This congratulations from Cedella Marley means so much to me…Getting this congratulations from her, took me back to my start in the business at Tuff Gong, where Cedella and I were music mates as tweens. I miss those days. Respect to Bob Marley, Rita Marley and the super-duper Melody Makers. You helped in this journey. Happy that I’ve brought some pride to your father’s legacy.”

Bounty Killer was also honored with a Blue & Bougie Lifetime Achievement Award. DJ Roy of Irie Jam Radio accepted on his behalf since he cannot travel to the USA at this time.

“Congratulations Killer. It was an honor to receive the award for you. Big up yourself my youth! The man put in the work” Roy shared.

Looking on at left is Patrick Reid, radio host on WZYE 95.9 FM in New Jersey. Bounty Killer won the award for his extraordinary impact on reggae music as well as for his philanthropy.

Other award recipients were New York’s reggae mix master DJ Norie and philanthropist Suzette Williams.
